Sampdoria appear to have chosen Marco Giampaolo as their new coach, preferring him to Stefano Pioli.
President Massimo Ferrero met with both of them over the last few days.
It’s widely reported he has made his decision and will appoint Giampaolo on a two-year contract worth €700,000 per season plus bonuses.
Giampaolo took Empoli to an impressive mid-table finish this term and had been linked with the Milan job.

Ex-Lazio coach Pioli was interviewed for the Samp position, but Giampaolo appears to have won.
