The first goal was unusual as the Verona defence stood like statues while Rodrigo Palacio rolled across for Mauro Icardi to tap in from close range; they wanted play stopped for an injury to Panagiotis Tachtsidis. .
Inter doubled their lead after half-time after Icardi returned the favour for Palacio.
Verona thought they had a way back into the game when Nemanja Vidic gave away a penalty for a trip on Leandro Greco, but for the second time this season, Samir Handanovic parried a Toni spot-kick.
Verona will feel themselves unfortunate to have given Inter their third - an own goal in stoppage times, as Vangelis Moras accidentally prodded a Danilo D’Ambrosio cross past his own goalkeeper.
