Maddison has been out for the past month with an ankle injury but the forward has an 'outside chance' of being fit enough for a place on the bench, according to Posh boss Darren Ferguson.
New signings Harry Beautyman and Craig Mackail-Smith will be included. Midfielder Beautyman arrived this week from Welling while former striker Mackail-Smith returned to the club on Thursday on loan from Brighton.
Winger Jon Taylor and defender Jack Baldwin have both undergone knee operations and remain on the sidelines.
City could hand new signing Matt Smith a debut when they make the trip.
The 25-year-old made the move from Leeds on Thursday and has been given the green light to be involved while fellow forward Wes Burns will not feature having made the loan switch to Oxford.
Bobby Reid has returned to Plymouth for another loan stay as Steve Cotterill can now boast a fully-fit squad at his disposal.
The Robins remain top of the table despite having lost their last two games and Cotterill could shuffle his pack in a bid to return to winning ways.
