- End of 2nd Half
FULL-TIME! France record a comfortable victory over Bulgaria to collect their first win of Group A. Kevin Gameiro, on his first start for his country in five years, grabbed a double, Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann were also on the score-sheet.
France are moments away from securing their first victory in Group A, following a frustrating 0-0 draw with Belarus on the opening night.
Three minutes of added time to be played at the end of the match.
In saying that, France don't look too interested in scoring a fifth goal. Every pass is being greeted with a cheer from their fans who are in party mode.
Bulgaria's defence has been ripped apart time after time this evening and it must be a real concern for their manager. They leaked THREE goals against Luxembourg and could have conceded at least eight more tonight. Thankfully, they only have five minutes left to hold on here.
A good night's work from Didier Deschamps' charges...
Pogba feeds the ball through to Gignac on the right channel, the substitute has Griezmann in support in the penalty area but his low cross is well defended against.
France can't trouble the visitors with the subsequent corner but, unsurprisingly, are immediately back in possession following Bulgaria's clearance.
Fantastic defending from the goalscorer Aleksandrov as he gets a toe to divert a lovely pass across the face of goal out of play.
POST! The woodwork denies France their fifth goal. Payet's through ball to Matuidi rips the away defence apart but he can't apply the finishing touch as his shot bounces off the post before Sidibe sends the rebound wide.
France have been in complete control since their equalising goal when Gameiro netted on 23 minutes. Bulgaria had actually led this game for 17 games! Difficult to believe considering how poorly they have played.
- OffKevin GameiroFrance
- OnAndré-Pierre GignacFrance
Gameiro is given a well-earned round of applause as he makes way for Gignac.
Gameiro is sent through on the right channel but a fantastic recovery tackle prevents him from causing any further damage. It's going to be his last contribution as Deschamps prepares to make a change...
The goalkeeper is forced into another save, albeit an unconvincing one, as Sissoko tries his luck from distance.
- OffIvelin Ivanov PopovBulgaria
- OnAleksandar TonevBulgaria
Bulgaria make their second change of the night. You feel the visitors will have a lot more defending to do before the final whistle...
Pirgov makes an important challenge on Griezmann to stop the forward in his tracks. The visitors are preparing another change now.
Bulgaria who are defending for dear life as they survive a succession of crosses from Payet and Co. in recent moments.
- OnDimitar RangelovBulgaria
Bulgaria make their first change of the match. More than a fresh pair of legs are needed to deal with the hosts at this stage...
Gameiro and Griezmann up front for France.... the start of something beautiful?
Well, how about that for making the most of an opportunity? Gameiro hadn't started a match for France in FIVE years. On his return, he scores twice... and there's still 30 minutes remaining!
- GoalKevin GameiroFrance
GOAL! France 4-1 Bulgaria - Gameiro grabs his second of the night to cap off with a delightful team goal! Kurwaza picks out Griezmann in space and the forward shows incredible vision to pick out his team mate at the back post for a simple tap-in.
CLOSE! Stoyanov is rooted to the spot this time as Pogba absolutely smashes a shot at goal from 20 yards but it's just wide of the target.
Sibide, who has been a constant threat at full-back, delivers an in-swinging cross into the penalty area but Stoyanov deals with the danger rather spectacularly, punching the ball clear with in Superman-like fashion.
Brilliant football from France as Gameiro feeds the ball through to Payet with a delightful flick but the West Ham winger just runs the ball too far at the byline. Goal-kick to Bulgaria.
Kurwaza is released by Payet in space on the channel but the linesman has his flag up. It was certainly a close call but the full-back seemed to be level. He was through on goal as well...
Les Bleus have begun the second period in the same manner they ended the first-half - on the attack. They probably should have their fourth goal of the evening as Koscielny heads wide from a free-kick delivery. The chance fell to the wrong man!
Neither side have made any changes at the break.
- 2nd Half
The second-half is underway. France looked extremely comfortable in the first period and will be hoping to add further goals in the remaining 45 minutes.
- End of 1st Half
HALF-TIME! After conceding an early penalty, France bounced back with three first-half goals - Gamiero equalising before Payet fired his side into the lead and Griezmann grabbed a third.
Two minutes of added time to be played at the end of the first-half.
Deschamps is given a telling-off for having a go at the fourth official. He clearly isn't happy with how the referee has officiated this contest.
Bulgaria have a rare chance to grab a goal back as a loose ball falls kindly to Marcelinho inside the penalty area but the forward's half-volley effort ends up well over the bar.
Criminal defending and you can see why Bulgaria concede so many goals. They let in three against Luxembourg last time out and you wouldn't be surprised if France record a cricket score this evening...
- GoalAntoine GriezmannFrance
GOAL! France 3-1 Bulgaria - Griezmann gets his name in the score-sheet to further extend the lead! It's terrible defending from Bulgaria who concede possession from left-back and the Atletico Madrid striker punishes them as he intercepts before rifling a shot into the back of the net.
Some referees can be accused of giving too many free-kicks but certainly not Luca Banti. The Italian has allowed play to continue time after time when a foul perhaps would have been the better call.
Gameiro celebrates his equalising goal...
A clever flick from Gameiro releases Sidibe in space but the full-back is challenged just as he enters the penalty area, forcing a corner.
Bulgaria have seen very little of the ball since they took the lead after six minutes. They have 10 men camped in their own half, watching on as France dominate possession.
A threaded through ball from Payet almost releases Kurzawa on the channel but there's just too much on the pass and it rolls out for a goal-kick, despite the full-back's best attempt to keep it in play.
Not good news for Man City fans...
- OffBacary SagnaFrance
- OnDjibril SidibéFrance
Sagna, minutes after setting up the equalising goal, is forced off with an injury. He also conceded the penalty which Bulgaria scored from.
- GoalDimitri PayetFrance
GOAL! France 2-1 Bulgaria - Payet fires the hosts in front in rather fortuitous fashion! The West Ham winger delivers a cross into the penalty area, no one can make a connection and it ends up in the back of the net.
It was certainly a surprise to see Gameiro's name in the starting XI. After all, he didn't even make it to the Euros. However, Deschamps' decision to start him this evening has been justified already.
- GoalKevin GameiroFrance
GOAL! France 1-1 Bulgaria - He hasn't made a start in five years but Gameiro is the man who levels the scores for Les Bleus with a fantastic header! The Atletico Madrid forward does brilliantly to meet a wonderful near post cross from Sagna, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.
Bulgaria are defending very well at the moment. Griezmann is beginning to get quite frustrated as he dribbles past two players before being crowded out on the edge of the penalty area.
WATCH: The moment Bulgaria shocked Paris.
Deschamps' side are seeing plenty of the ball but are yet to create a clear opening as they chase an equalising goal. It's not the plan they had in mind.
More disappointment for France and Pogba as the Manchester United midfielder blazes a shot into row-Z from distance. Red Devils - what have you done to this man?!
The visitors have to be alert at the back as Griezmann tries to play Gameiro through at the back post but Milanov reads the pass and intercepts well.
It's not going France's way so far...
The French supporters are on their feet roaring at the referee who refuses to give the home side a free-kick in a wide area. It was as blatant as you'll see - Griezmann is hauled down by Pirgov but the referee signals play on.
Long, long way to go...
BLOCK! The hosts have reacted quite well to falling behind to an early goal. A nice team move releases Kurzawa on the channel, his cross finds Gameiro but the striker then sees his shot blocked from inside the penalty area.
France are shocked, how will they respond?
- Goal by penaltyMihail AleksandrovBulgaria
GOAL! France 0-1 Bulgaria - M Aleksandrov makes no mistake, his penalty beating Lloris, hitting off the post and into the net. What a start for the visitors who have a crucial lead!
PENALTY TO BULGARIA! The visitors break through G Milanov who does brilliantly to cut in from the channel and into the penalty area. He's only stopped after Sagna hauls him back, fouling him and conceding a spot-kick!
Sagna is fouled on the channel, allowing Payet an opportunity to deliver a cross into the penalty area. However, Payet's set-piece is about as poor as his club's form and Bulgaria are let off the hook.
France can't trouble the visitors from the set-piece and Bulgaria break through Marcelinho but he concedes possession cheaply.
The hosts are immediately on the attack, winning the ball straight from kick-off and earning a corner.
- 1st Half
WE'RE OFF! Bulgaria get us underway.
It's time for the National Anthems and then we're all set for kick-off!
France return to the Stade de France for the first time since losing to Portugal in a heartbreaking Euro 2016 final. Awful memories for Les Bleus but they've enjoyed a lot of success at home to Bulgaria over the years, losing only once in 10 games and winning six.
"I really don't want to talk about that," was Didier Deschamps’ response when asked about France's infamous last-gasp loss to Bulgaria in 1993 – a defeat which cost them a place in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. "It was 23 years ago, it's time to move on,"
The visitors, who are top of the group after a 4-3 victory over Luxembourg last time out, lead with Ivelin Popov with Brazilian-born Marcelinho playing behind the striker. Elsewhere, Dimitar Pirgov makes his first appearance for his country, playing in defence.
Kevin Gameiro is handed his first start in a France shirt for half a decade, operating behind club mate and forward Antoine Griezmann. Paul Pogba has been poor for Manchester United but features in midfield alongside PSG’s Blaise Matuidi. Spurs’ Mousa Sissoko will play on the right. Defender Samuel Umtiti misses out through injury and he is replaced in centre-back by Raphael Varane.
FRANCE: Lloris, Sagna, Varane, Koscielny, Kurzawa, Pogba, Matuidi, Sissoko, Griezmann, Payet, Gameiro. BULGARIA: Stoyanov, Popov, Aleksandrov, Kostadinov, Popov, Marcelinho, Pirgov, G Milanov, Z Milanov, Dyakov.
Good evening and welcome to Eurosport's LIVE text commentary of the World Cup qualifier between France and Bulgaria. Didier Deschamps' side were held to a goalless draw in their opening Group A game and will be hoping to record a convincing victory this evening in Paris.
