Lewis Hamilton closed on team-mate Nico Rosberg with another victory in Canada. But there were great performances throughout the field - including one from the driver who finished in 17th place!

F1 Fanatic's Keith Collantine names the top drivers from the latest round of the championship.

1. Valtteri Bottas (up 11)

Underlined his credentials as a Montreal specialist with a performance which extracted every last tenth from the Williams-Mercedes FW38. Seventh on the grid behind the Mercedes, Ferraris and Red Bulls looked the car's limit, but in the race his superb tyre management and error-free driving allowed him to grab the team's first podium of the year using a one-stop strategy.

2. Sebastian Vettel - (up 6)

Deserved the win and had Ferrari held their nerve when confronted with a tricky strategic call on lap 11 he probably would have taken it. However switching to a two-stop strategy didn't pay off the way the team expected. After that he got a bit ragged towards the end.

3. Lewis Hamilton (up 2)

Admitted his pole position lap was less than perfect and then fluffed his start, again. Ferrari failed to punish him for that, due in part to Hamilton keeping up the pressure throughout the race.

4. Carlos Sainz Jnr (up 2)

Stuck the car in the wall in qualifying and lined up 20th. But his recovery on Sunday was masterful: he finished well ahead of his team mate and grabbed some points.

5. Max Verstappen (up 13)

Beaten by Ricciardo in qualifying but he drove superbly in the race. His steely defence against a much quicker Rosberg in the final laps was the sign of an old head on young shoulders.

6. Pascal Wehrlein (up 7)

All his race was missing was one of the super-quick starts we've come to expect from him. He was 0.15s off Q2 on Saturday and beat one of the Saubers on Sunday - and nearly got them both. Deserved more than 17th place for his efforts.

7. Nico Hulkenberg (down 4)

Delivered the low-end points finish the car was capable of. Was particularly impressive on the first lap, pouncing on a flustered Rosberg to briefly run ahead of the Mercedes.

8. Fernando Alonso (down 7)

Reached Q3 for the third race running (thanks in part to a tow from Button) but the car wasn't quick enough for another points score.

9. Daniel Ricciardo (down 7)

Continues to deliver great qualifying laps but flat-spotting his tyres compromised his race effort. He also lost one place with an off-track moment at the final chicane.

10. Sergio Perez (up 1)

Tried to make the alternative tyre strategy work but found little benefit from it. Still grabbed a point.
