Pirelli has issued Formula 1 teams with recommended maximum stint lengths for each of its tyres compounds for the first time at this weekend's British Grand Prix.

The tyre supplier stressed to teams that they should still base their race strategies around their own wear data, rather than taking the number of laps given by Pirelli as a guarantee of tyre life.
Pirelli has suggested nobody should exceed 26 laps on the hard tyre, 28 laps on the medium, and 15 laps on the soft compound in Sunday's race at Silverstone.
It explained that the medium is predicted to last longer than the hard because the harder compound has experienced some graining this weekend.
"Our advice is not to exceed these numbers during the race," Pirelli added.
Its pre-race prediction for the best strategy is a two-stopper, featuring two 12-lap stints on the soft tyres and a 28-lap stint on the medium.
In last weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel suffered a spectacular tyre failure while stretching the life of his first set of tyres, which had completed 29 laps of the Red Bull Ring including mileage from qualifying.
