Tech video: How Mercedes and Ferrari compare

Formula 1's championship battle between Ferrari and Mercedes may show little between the two cars pace wise, but from a design perspective there are fascinating concept differences between the teams.

In this exclusive video analysis from Motorsport.tv's weekly programme The Flying Lap, former Benetton, Ferrari and Sauber aerodynamicist Willem Toet looks in detail with technical analyst Craig Scarborough at how the Mercedes W08 and Ferrari SF70H compare.

He discusses in particular how the two teams have embarked on different front wing and sidepod philosophies, and what Mercedes is looking to do with its very aggressive bargeboard solutions.

"It is nice to see that there are different solutions that have been found, and they will have strengths in different types of situations," said Toet.

"In the tighest corners it is quite likely that mechanically speaking the Ferrari will have an edge, while in the really high speed corners it is quite likely the Mercedes will have an edge."
