The Swiss F1 team's new recruit missed last week's first test with a back injury sustained in January, in a collision with Williams driver Felipe Massa in the Race of Champions.
Wehrlein's return had been anticipated for the second week of testing, and sources have told Autosport he will be in Sauber's C36 for Tuesday's opening day of running.
Ferrari reserve Antonio Giovinazzi stood in for Wehrlein in the first test, finishing the week 14th on the combined order.
Giovinazzi remains on standby should Wehrlein encounter any issues driving the car, in what will be his taste of 2017's revamped machinery.
