Bruins rally to beat Sharks

The win gave the Bruins (4-4-0) back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Just-recalled rookie right winger Seth Griffith tied the game with his first NHL goal 4:50 into the third before center Gregory Campbell scored his first of the season at 10:42.

Center David Krejci scored a short-handed empty-net goal with 24.5 seconds left.

The comeback came after the Sharks (4-2-1) scored two goals in 37 seconds late in the second period to go ahead for the first time in the game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs scored four unanswered goals in less than nine minutes in the second period en route to beating the New York Islanders 5-2.

Center Phil Kessel opened and closed the second period outburst for the Leafs, who scored just four goals in their previous three games combined.

Defenseman Roman Polak scored the game-winner 11:11 into the second.

The Maple Leafs (3-3-1) snapped a two-game losing streak while the Islanders (4-2-0) have lost two straight following the third 4-0-0 start in franchise history.

Defenseman Kevin Klein scored with 2:18 remaining in overtime, leading the New York Rangers to a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory over the cross-river rival New Jersey Devils.

The Rangers (4-3-0) won their third consecutive game after a three-game losing streak. The Devils (3-2-1) lost their third in a row after winning the first three games of the season on the road.

The Rangers trailed 3-1 early in the third period but scored twice to send the game to overtime.

Center David Desharnais scored the overtime winner to give the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Center Henrik Zetterberg scored for Detroit, and left winger Alex Galchenyuk replied for Montreal.

Goaltender Carey Price made 27 saves for Montreal (6-1-0) and Jimmy Howard stopped 34 shots for Detroit (3-1-2).

The Chicago Blackhawks erupted for three mid-first period goals and never looked back, trouncing the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0.

The Blackhawks improved to 4-0-1 on the young season, while the Flyers dropped to 1-3-2.

Chicago forward Patrick Kane scored two goals in the contest, giving him a team-leading three tallies for the season.

Making his first start and appearance of the season, Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta was stellar in the net, turning back all 32 shots from the Flyers to earn his second career shutout in the NHL.

Defenseman Ryan Ellis had a goal and two assists, then scored the game-winning goal in the fourth round of a shootout as Nashville subdued the Arizona Coyotes 4-3.

Goalkeeper Pekka Rinne (4-0-1) iced the win by stopping right wing Martin Erat. Nashville (4-0-2) has picked up points in all six games under first-year coach Peter Laviolette.

Center Derek Roy also scored in the shootout for Nashville, while center Antoine Vermette extended the shootout for Arizona (2-2-1) by tallying on its third shot of the tiebreaker.

The Winnipeg Jets snapped a four-game losing streak with an efficient but unspectacular 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

The win improved the Jets record to 2-4-0 while the Hurricanes remain winless on the season and fell to 0-3-2.

The Jets opened the scoring through Andrew Ladd and tust 40 seconds later, rookie left winger Adam Lowry put the Jets up 2-0 when he tipped home the first goal of his NHL career.

Left winger Erik Cole scored twice, and the Dallas Stars defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-3 for their first home win of the season.

The Stars led 3-0 after the first period and 5-0 less than two minutes into the second before the Canucks made the final score more respectable.

Dallas (3-1-2) took its first lead 4:08 into the game when Vancouver defenseman Alexandre Burrows knocked a pass from Stars left winger Ryan Garbutt into his own net and further first period scores came from Cole and Tyler Seguin.

Brad Boyes scored a power-play goal 2:23 into overtime and the Florida Panthers beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3.

Left winger Jussi Jokinen fed a pass from the backboards and Boyes blasted a shot past goaltender Reto Berra to give the Panthers their second road win of the season.

Left winger Sean Bergenheim and centers Brandon Pirri and Aleksander Barkov scored for the Panthers.

Defenseman Tyson Barrie and left winger Gabriel Landeskog scored power-play goals 31 seconds apart in the second period, and left winger Alex Tanguay also scored for Colorado, which is winless at home this season.

Flames rookie left wing Johnny Gaudreau split two defensemen before setting up teammate Dennis Wideman for a power-play goal early in the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but it would be for nothing as the Lightning stormed back for a 2-1 overtime victory.

Lightning center Valtteri Filppula scored on a rebound with just 2:11 remaining in the third period to tie it up and spoil Karri Ramo's shutout bid.

Then left wing Ondrej Palat ended it with a backhander with two minutes to go in the overtime period as the Lightning improve to 4-2-1, while the Flames are now 4-3-1.
