Nyquist OT goal sees Red Wings level series

Gustav Nyquist scored in overtime as Detroit levelled their NHL Western Conference first-round play-off series with Anaheim.

Red Wings 5, Ducks 4 (OT)
Gustav Nyquist scored a power play goal 1:21 into overtime as Detroit recovered from squandering a three-goal lead in the third period to level their Western Conference first-round play-off series with Anaheim.
Justin Abdelkader had scored 48 seconds into the game for the seventh-seeded Red Wings, before Damien Brunner and Johan Franzen scored to give the visitors a 3-0 lead early in the second period.
Saku Koivu got one back for the Pacific Division champion Ducks before Franzen scored his second power-play goal that took him to 40 postseason career goals and give Detroit a 4-1 lead.
Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf and Kyle Palmieri tallied nearly five minutes apart in the third period before Bobby Ryan then scored his ninth career play-off goal to tie the game at 4-4 with 2:22 remaining.
With defenseman Sheldon Souray serving a penalty for slashing, Detroit put an end to the chaotic contest as Valtteri Filppula used a brilliant toe-drag to create some space before making a backhanded pass to Nyquist.
The Swede made no mistake by elevating the puck past Jonas Hiller (27 saves).
Game Three is in Detroit on Saturday.

Blues 2, Kings 1
Patrik Berglund scored the tying goal early in the third period and defenseman Barret Jackman broke the deadlock with 51 seconds remaining as St. Louis Blue seized a 2-0 lead in its Western Conference first-round series against visiting Los Angeles Kings.
Brian Elliott made 28 saves for the fourth-seeded Blues, who travel to defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles for Game 3 on Saturday.
St. Louis dominated the third period and took control of the series on Jackman's first goal in 23 career postseason games.
Chris Stewart made a cross-ice pass to the veteran blue-liner, who fired a wrist shot past Jonathan Quick from just above the left faceoff circle, sending the Scottrade Center crowd into a frenzy.
Captain Dustin Brown scored and Quick stopped 23 shots for the fifth-seeded Kings, who entered the series having won eight straight meetings with the Blues.

Senators 4, Canadiens 2
Craig Anderson made 48 saves as visiting Ottawa scored three goals in the third period to rally past second-seeded Montreal in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first-round series.
Defenseman Marc Methot gave the seventh-seeded Senators a 3-2 lead 5:20 into the session - and just 1:53 after rookie Jakob Silfverberg tied the game.
Guillaume Latendresse added an insurance goal and defenseman Erik Karlsson opened the scoring in the first period.
Rene Bourque and rookie Brendan Gallagher scored as part of a 27-shot second period for the Northeast Division champion Canadiens, who will host Ottawa in Game 2 on Friday.
Carey Price stopped 27 shots, but saw his career postseason record drop to 8-16-0.

Capitals 3, Rangers 1
Marcus Johansson and Jason Chimera scored 46 seconds apart in the second period and Braden Holtby turned aside 35 shots as third-seeded Washington skated to victory in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round series with visiting New York.
Three-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin netted his 31st career play-off goal for the Southeast Division champion Capitals, who host the sixth-seeded Rangers in Game 2 on Saturday.
With the game tied at 1-1, defenseman Steven Oleksy's stretch pass sailed between Rangers defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi to allow Johansson to skate in and fire a wrist shot under the left arm of Henrik Lundqvist (27 saves).
Chimera, who was celebrating his 34th birthday, kept the Verizon Center rocking as he wired a shot from the left-wing boards that beat Lundqvist between his pads. It was Chimera's eighth career postseason goal - and sixth versus New York.
