Dec 23 (The Sports Xchange) - Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons is the top vote-getter, but the Chicago Blackhawks are dominating the NHL All-Star Game fan balloting with with a little more than a week remaining.

Girgensons has received a league-high 1.2 million votes, according to totals released Tuesday by the league. His support comes largely from his native Latvia.
Blackhawks defensemen Duncan Keith (790,922) and Brent Seabrook (641,736) are 1-2 among defensemen, Chicago's Corey Crawford (714,471) leads all goaltenders and winger Patrick Kane (815,990) and center Jonathan Toews (803,034) are 2-3 behind Girgensons among the forwards.
Balloting ends Jan. 1. The NHL All-Star Game will be played Jan. 25 in Columbus, Ohio.

Colorado Avalanche forward Patrick Bordeleau returned Saturday after missing the first 32 games of the season while recovering from back surgery only to be injured again.
Bordeleau will miss eight to 10 weeks after suffering a fractured kneecap, the team announced Tuesday. It's unclear when the injury occurred. He had two hits in 6:46 on the ice during Saturday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
The 28-year-old Bordeleau, who is part of the fourth line for the Avalanche, played in 82 regular-season games last season for the Avs and had six goals and five assists with 115 penalty minutes.

The Calgary Flames sent defenseman Corey Potter to Adirondack of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
Potter has five assists and 10 penalty minutes in 19 games for Adirondack this season.
In 123 career NHL games, he has eight goals, 24 assists and 53 penalty minutes. Last season, Potter played in 16 games for the Edmonton Oilers and three games for the Boston Bruins.

The Buffalo Sabres recalled forward Joel Armia from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Armia was a first-round pick by the Sabres in 2011, and joins the team for the first time. The Pori, Finland native has 16 points in 21 games for the Amerks this season after leading the team with six points in five games during the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The Minnesota Wild recalled goaltender John Curry under emergency conditions from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.
Curry, 30, is 4-6-0 with a 3.02 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 12 games for Iowa this season. He is 3-2-0 with a 3.55 GAA and an .893 save percentage in six career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Minnesota.
