Jan 26 (The Sports Xchange) - Philadelphia Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo received an eight-game suspension from the NHL on Monday for an incident that occurred in a Jan.

Rinaldo left his feet late in the first period to check Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who left the game soon afterward and did not return. The officials assessed Rinaldo with a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety found Rinaldo guilty of charging and boarding and assessed the ban based on Rinaldo's status as a repeat offender.
Under provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Rinaldo will lose $73,170.72 of salary during the suspension, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
To fill in for Rinaldo, the Flyers recalled center Ryan White from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

The Columbus Blue Jackets placed goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky on injured reserve with a groin injury, and he is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks.
Bobrovsky, 26, suffered the injury on Jan. 21 at Winnipeg. The injured reserve date is retroactive to the date of injury.
Bobrovsky, who was selected to play in his first NHL All-Star Game prior to the injury, has posted a 16-15-2 record with a 2.85 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and one shutout in 33 games this season.
Also on Monday, the Blue Jackets recalled forward Josh Anderson and added goaltender Anton Forsberg to the roster on emergency recall from the AHL's Springfield Falcons.

New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo is expected to be out 6-8 weeks because of an upper-body injury, coach Jack Capuano said Monday.
Okposo, who plays on the first line with center John Tavares, is the team's second-leading scorer, with 14 goals and 44 points.

The Buffalo Sabres suspended defenseman Nikita Zadorov, who missed Monday's practice, for failure to report to the team on time following the NHL All-Star break.
"We anticipate Nikita joining the team at some point during this week's western road trip," Sabres general manager Tim Murray said.
In 34 games this season, Zadorov has two goals and six assists.
The Sabres also recalled goaltender Matt Hackett from the Rochester Americans of the AHL to replace injured goaltender Michal Neuvirth.

The Nashville Predators recalled goaltender Marek Mazanec from the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
Mazanec, 23, has gone 5-0-0 during the Admirals' franchise-record nine-game win streak, posting a 1.22 goals-against average, a .947 save percentage and a shutout in that span. For the season, he is 13-8-3 with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
Several other teams also made personnel changes.
The Dallas Stars recalled defensemen Jamie Oleksiak and Jyrki Jokipakka from the AHL's Texas Stars.
The Calgary Flames recalled forwards Sven Baertschi and David Wolf and defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon from the Adirondack Flames of the AHL.
The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled defenseman Petter Granberg and forward Josh Leivo from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.
The Minnesota Wild assigned goaltender Darcy Kuemper to the Iowa Wild of the AHL for a conditioning stint and recalled defenseman Stu Bickel.
The Arizona Coyotes recalled forward Lucas Lessio and defenseman Andrew Campbell from the Portland Pirates of the AHL.
The Los Angeles Kings recalled forward Nick Shore from the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.
The San Jose Sharks signed forward Nikita Jevpalovs to an entry-level contract.
