July 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Veteran forward Pavel Datsyuk signed a two-year deal with SKA St.

The deal is worth $7.6 million, according to NHL analyst Aaron Ward.
Datsyuk, 37, elected to leave the NHL to return to his native Russia for family reasons, prompting the Detroit Red Wings to make a draft-day trade with the Arizona Coyotes to rid themselves of his cap hit.
A four-time Lady Byng Trophy winner and three-time Selke recipient, Datsyuk will see a few familiar faces with SKA St. Petersburg in former NHLer Ilya Kovalchuk and Russian national team coach Oleg Znarok.

The Anaheim Ducks acquired goaltender Jonathan Bernier from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a conditional draft choice.
Bernier, 27, has posted an 88-88-23 record with 12 shutouts, a 2.67 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in 213 career NHL games with Los Angeles and Toronto.

Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele agreed to terms on an eight-year, $49 million contract, the team announced.
Scheifele recorded career highs in goals (29) and points (71) last season with the Jets, who agreed to a four-year, $16.5 million extension with forward Mathieu Perreault on Thursday.

The Colorado Avalanche signed former top overall pick Nathan MacKinnon to a seven-year contract extension, the team announced.
Financial terms were not disclosed for MacKinnon, who scored 21 goals -- including a team high-tying six game-winning tallies last season. The 20-year-old center also had 31 assists in 72 games.

The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with defenseman Brenden Kichton on a one-year, two-way contract worth an average annual value of $600,000 in the NHL.
Kichton, 24, led the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League in scoring last season with 41 points (11 goals, 30 assists) in 68 games.
