Fired by the Bruins on Feb. 7, Julien was hired by Montreal (31-19-8) on Tuesday after the Canadiens fired Michel Therrien. The move sent shock waves through the NHL. The Canadiens are in first place in the Atlantic Division but have slumped, going 1-5-1 in February.
This will be Julien's second stint in Montreal, having coached the Habs from 2002 to 2006. Julien, 56, had been the NHL's longest-tenured coach until the Bruins fired him last week and is Boston's career leader in coaching wins with 419.

The Winnipeg Jets recalled defenseman Julian Melchiori from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and placed goalie Ondrej Pavelec on injured reserve retroactive to Feb. 7 with a lower-body injury.
Melchiori, 25, is without a point in four games with the Jets this season. Pavelec, 29, sustained the injury in a game against the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 7. He is 4-4-0 with a 3.55 goals-against average in eight games with the Jets this season.

The St. Louis Blues placed center Paul Stastny on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
Stastny, 31, sustained the injury during St. Louis' 2-1 overtime victory at Toronto on Feb. 9. He is the Blues' fourth-leading scorer (35 points) and ranks third on the team with 15 goals in 54 games.
Stastny has 201 goals and 387 assists in 730 career games between the Blues and Avalanche.

The Minnesota Wild reassigned center Tyler Graovac to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.
Graovac, 23, has six goals and 37 shots on goal in 45 games with Minnesota this season.
