Coyotes sign Blue Jackets defenseman, Jets centre on injury list - NHL Round Up

The Arizona Coyotes claimed defenseman Kevin Connauton off waivers Wednesday from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Connauton has eight points (one goal, seven assists) and 21 penalty minutes in 27 games this season with the Blue Jackets.

The Winnipeg Jets placed centre Mark Scheifele on retroactive injured reserve to Jan. 7 with a lower-body injury, the team announced.
Scheifele, 22, aggravated a lower body injury last week.

San Jose Sharks forward Dainius Zubrus was placed on injured reserve because of a lower-back injury, general manager Doug Wilson announced.

The Edmonton Oilers recalled forward Zack Kassian from the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League.
Kassian, 24, has appeared in four games with Bakersfield this season, registering one goal and six penalty minutes.

The Washington Capitals will hold a ceremony to honour Alex Ovechkin for reaching 500 goals before Thursday night's game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Ovechkin reached 500 goals faster that all but four players in NHL history with his second-period goal in Sunday's game against Ottawa.
