Hurricanes' Ward on reserve, Pelech out for season - NHL Round Up

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward was diagnosed with a concussion and placed on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.

Ward started last Friday night and allowed three goals on 22 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks, ending his three-game winning streak. He is 14-11-5 with a 2.42 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout in 32 games this season.

New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech likely will miss the rest of the season because of an upper-body injury, Newsday reported.
Pelech was cut on the right cheek by the skate of New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan during the Islanders' 3-1 win on Jan. 14 but later returned to the game. He missed a 2-1 shootout loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.

The New Jersey Devils assigned forward Brian O'Neill to Albany of the American Hockey League.
O'Neill has two assists in 22 games with the Devils this season. He has seven points (three goals, four assists) in nine games with Albany.
