WTCC - Gabriele Tarquini leads Paul Ricard in Friday testing

Honda's Gabriele Tarquini was fastest in Friday testing ahead of the Circuit Paul Ricard round of the World Touring Car Championship with a time of 1:30.227, leading Citroen’s Ma Qing Hua and Honda team-mate Tiago Monteiro.

Italian Tarquini pipped Ma Qing Hua to top-spot in the closing minutes in France after a 40kg reduction in compensation weight on his Honda Civic, down to just 20kg this weekend.

Ma finished 0.112 seconds behind with Monteiro 0.198 seconds back in third.

Championship leader Jose Maria Lopez was the early leader before late improvements saw Monteiro, Ma and Tarquini's post faster times.

Lopez finished the session fourth after a late improvement, just ahead of the best placed Lada Vesta, driven by Rob Huff.
