Fresh from winning the team event on Friday and then the individual event on Saturday, the triple Olympic medallist returned on Sunday for more of the same.

He had been trailing Japan's Takehiro Watanabe after the jumping event after the latter landed at 138m with a points total of 145.3 to give him a five-second head start on his German rival, who managed 139m and 144 points.

But Frenzel was in dominant mood on the skis, working closely with long-term roommate Bjoern Kircheisen to keep the pursuers off their back.

In the end it was Frenzel who pulled away in the closing stages to cross the finish line 10.8 seconds ahead of his German compatriot and win in 25:13.6 minutes.

Norway's Joergen Graabak tried his utmost to catch the leaders but could not, and instead had to settle for third, 23.4 seconds back.

Victory moves Frenzel onto 294 points in the World Cup standings after four competitions, closing the gap on Johannes Rydzek who was fourth on Sunday and sits on 330 points.
