With the team event cancelled due to the strong wind, the provisional competition round had to be used.
And it was Riessle who finished 12.5 seconds ahead of Akito Watabe from Japan and Ilkka Herola who was third, 15.2 seconds off the pace, although the Finn did claim his first podium.
Poland’s Szczepan Kupczak started the 10km run first after his 133.5m jump on Friday had given him a nine-second advantage, with Austria’s Fabian Steindl next up.
Kupczak ended up finishing 20th overall, although it did mean he was able to record a career best finish and claim his first World Cup points.
Riessle’s solid jump of 129.9m meant he went into Saturday’s race fifth and 13 seconds behind Kupczak and the 24-year-old enjoyed a comfortable victory – at times leading by as much as 30 seconds.
