Sept 24 (Reuters) - Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola has been ruled out for four months after undergoing surgery on his right knee, the Premiership side said on Sunday.
Vunipola has had a injury-disrupted year and returned from a long-term shoulder injury earlier this month before sustaining the knee injury in Saracens' 41-13 victory over Sale Sharks on Saturday.
"Vunipola underwent surgery this morning (Sunday) on his right knee to repair his meniscus. It is expected Vunipola will undertake a period of rehabilitation over the next 16 weeks," Saracens said on their website (www.saracens.com).
The 24-year-old will miss England's tests against Argentina, Australia and Samoa in November and the beginning of Saracens' European Cup campaign.
Harlequins number eight Jack Clifford has been called up to replace Vunipola in the England training squad, as Eddie Jones's team prepare for the November internationals, starting with a match against Argentina on Nov. 11. (Reporting by Aditi Prakash in Bengaluru; Editing by Clare Fallon)
