Dale is now just one match away from a place in the February 2-6 tournament and will face Gerard Greene on Friday.

Nigel Bond also booked his place in the final round of qualifying with a 5-2 win over Kyren Wilson and will face Liang Wenbo next.

But Jimmy White crashed out of the tournament with a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Jimmy Robertson.

The German Masters has been a non-ranking tournament since 1998, before which it was known as the German Open.

However, 2011 marks the return of the Berlin-based competition as a ranking tournament - held in the German capital's Tempodrom in February.
