I_am_nothingg0 asked: Hi Mark, if you could change one of snooker's rules which rule would it be?
Mark Selby: Possibly the rule that saw me punished at the World Championship for picking up the cue ball after Graeme Dott had blocked it going in with his fist.
Blueberry9 asked: What's your opinion about that case with Dott? Do you consider it was somewhat incorrect that Alan Chamberlain didn't warn you about this uncommon situation?
MS: Well, I don't know every single rule in the book. I just picked up the cue ball and put it in the D because that is what any player would do if we were playing against each other in practice. I understand Alan Chamberlain was just doing his job, he was being professional and applying the rules to the letter of the law, but I don't know - it seemed a bit petty at the time.
Alina asked: If you could replay a single shot from the match with John Higgins in the quarter-final of the World Championship which would it be and how would you play it?
MS: Possibly the plant I tried when I was leading 12-11. I would still go for it though, as I believe it was the right shot to play. But this time I'd just make sure I potted the red!
Shabbir20 asked: Hi Mark, what tip size do you use and what size do you recommend? I am currently using my pool cue to play snooker which is an 8.5mm tip. What advantages would I get from a cue with 9-9.5mm tip?
MS: I use a 9.5mm tip which is pretty much the standard size for snooker. If you went to a cue manufacturer and did not specify what size you wanted then he would probably just put on a 9.5mm tip. The problem you are going to have playing with such a thin tip as you do, is that you will get a lot of unwanted side on your shots unless you get the shot absolutely spot on. With a thicker tip you don't have to get it perfect every time.
Normundslojans asked: To what extent does the opinion: "attacking style looks good but pays smaller dividends in the long term (majority of cases)" is grounded?
MS: It is great to play an attacking style when it works and it is fantastic for the viewers who are watching too. But the problem is that you will be punished massively if things are not going to plan, because you will be leaving chances on all over the place. The key is to find a balance I think.
Steve_wwefan: How tall are you? Dennis Taylor once said you were 6'3'' and I don't think you're that tall?
MS: You're right - I'm not that tall. I think I'm about six foot.
