Alan McManus made a strong start to the first round of German Masters qualifying, thrashing Jak Jones 5-0 in Sheffield.

The 39-year-old Scot now faces Mark Joyce in the second round, after the English world number 58 defeated Andrew Pagett 5-1.
The German Masters has been a non-ranking tournament since 1998, before which it was known as the German Open.
However, 2011 marks the return of the Berlin-based competition as a ranking tournament - held in the German capital's Tempodrom in February.
