Stevens beats Murphy

The Welshman beat Murphy 4-3 to reach the last 16.

It completed an excellent day for Stevens, who had earlier beaten seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry 4-1 and whitewashed six-times Crucible runner-up Jimmy White 4-0.

Another veteran Steve Davis was on the wrong end of a one-sided last 64 match, losing 4-0 to Stephen Lee who was then beaten by Ding Junhui.

Mark Williams made it through to the last 16 with a 4-1 win over Ding's compatriot Liang Wenbo.
