Veteran Thai James Wattana stayed on course for the Shanghai Masters with a 5-1 win over Matt Couch in qualifying.

Wattana, formerly ranked as high as three in the world, was one of the first men through to the second round at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
Wattana was one of several overseas hopefuls to progress into the second round, booking a tie against Andy Hicks in the process.
Aditya Mehta of India whitewashed Stuart Carrington 5-0 in double-quick time, and will now go on to face Englishman Rod Lawler.
And two Chinese players also advanced towards a place in their home tournament, with Li Yan sweeping aside Paul Davison 5-2, and Tian Penfei getting the better of Thai opponent Dechawat Poomjaeng.
Wattana's countryman Passakorn Suwannawat moved on with a 5-2 win over Adam Duffy and Finland's Robin Hull had a 127 in his 5-3 win over Andrew Pagett.
