The six-time world championship finalist failed to fire even a single half-century in the match but his more consistent play throughout was enough to topple former Shanghai Masters winner Dale whose 120 break in the fourth frame could not disguise an otherwise sloppy performance.
White's victory also sees him move into the top 48 of the provisional rankings meaning he will now have to win one game fewer to make it to the televised stages of ranking events.
Former world champion Ken Doherty will also be packing his bags for Beijing after he romped to a 5-0 victory over Thailand's Issara Kachaiwong.
The Irish potter enjoyed breaks of 65, 86, and 105 on his way to a dominant win – he will now face Graeme Dott at the venue.
Chinese fans won't get to see Liang Wenbo in action though as he crashed to Nigel Bond 5-3. Bond is fine form, he won the Snooker Shoot-out recently and this is his third successive ranking event qualification.
There were also wins for Stephen Lee and Ryan Day ensuring that they will face defending champion Mark Williams and crowd favourite Ronnie O'Sullivan respectively, in the first televised stage.
