Coco Vandeweghe faces Julia Goerges in WTA Elite Trophy final

American Vandeweghe, who is ranked 12th in the world, beat Australian Ashleigh Barty 6-3 6-3 in the semi-final.

Vandeweghe, 25, has had a breakthrough year on tour, especially at the grand slams where she reached the semi-final of the Australian Open and US Open, and she now has the chance to end the season on a high.

Her impressive serve was too hot for Barty to handle, losing just six points off her own delivery, and whatever happens on Sunday, Vandeweghe will finish the year in the top 10.

Defeat ends Barty's impressive year, which started with a ranking of 325 and will finish inside the top 20.

Goerges booked her place in the final with a comfortable 6-3 6-3 victory over Anastasija Sevastova.

The German extended her winning streak to eight games, courtesy of 41 winners and will aim to make it back-to-back titles to conclude 2017.
