Giorgi fired down 20 unforced errors as Wozniacki won the first set at a canter, and it was much the same in the second.
While the Italian hit 19 winners to Wozniacki’s 12, the Dane’s consistency ensured that she made the fourth round as Giorgi finished the match with 30 unforced errors.
Wozniacki, who spent 67 consecutive weeks in 2010 and 2011, has never made it past the last 16 and faces Spain’s Garbine Muguruza in the next round.
Agnieszka Radwanska saw off Casey Dellacqua 6-1 6-4 to also make the second week.

The Polish 13th seed looked like she was coasting after the first set but found herself 4-0 in the second. However, she rallied and reeled off six games on the bounce to progress.
2013 finalist Sabine Lisicki was knocked out 6-3 6-2 by Timea Bacsinszky.
Lisicki fired down 17 winners to Bacsinszky’s 12 but an unforced error count of 24 to her Swiss opponents 10 ultimately cost the German.
