PARIS - On Wednesday, 20 September, on the occasion of the International Day of University Sport, the French student-athletes who were medallists at the 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei last August were honoured at two receptions organized successively at the Ministry of Sports, the invitation of Sports Minister Laura Flessel, then to the Paris headquarters of main sponsor MAIF, at the invitation of its President Dominique Mahé.
37 of the 46 medal-winning athletes (17 medals in total for France) were present at these receptions, accompanied by their coaches, FFSU teams and representatives of the Federations and partner institutions.
Two ex-gold medallists and flag bearers of the French delegation to the Universiade also honoured the evening with their presence: Gwladys Epangue, President of the CNOSF Athletes' Commission, bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and triple Summer Universiade participant (Daegu 2003, Izmir 2005 and Belgrade 2009) and Yannick Borel, 2016 Olympic champion in Rio, also triple SU participant (Belgrade 2009, Kazan 2013, Gwangju 2015).
The Fédération Française du Sport Universitaire thanks all those who, through their action, their support and their commitment, have made this event a success and are already preparing for 2019 for the 29th Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk (Russia) and the 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli (Italy)!
