When it comes to beautiful backdrops for sporting events, you have to go some way to match the World Diving Championships which took place in Barcelona.

As the cream of the diving world performed their mesmerising acts, spectators were treated to stunning views of the Catalan capital.
And while the famous Sagrada Familia church is famously still a work in progress - construction began in 1882 but its scheduled date of completion is 2028 - we picked out some fully realised works of art in our gallery below.
