Neymar scored the opener in Brazil’s last-16 match against Mexico at the World Cup on Monday.
It was a wonderful goal and a wonderful move – started and finished by the PSG man.
He then provided an assist from Roberto Firmino in the dying moments of the game as Seleção made the quarter-finals with the minimum of fuss, courtesy of a 2-0 win.
However, the 26-year-old’s most noteworthy moment of the match – certainly to social media’s eyes – might have come on 70 minutes when Mexico’s Miguel Layun appeared to deliberately stamp on the forward.
It was referred to VAR and no action was taken. It looked an intentional stamp but Neymar’s reaction appeared a little OTT. And the good folk of social media let him know about it.
