SATURDAY MORNING'S BIG STORIES

1 - Real Madrid to line up without Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo limped out of Real Madrid's victory earlier this week, and Real boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that he's out with an injury. But not a serious one, Zizou was quick to insist; he could play if he really had to. "That's his problem," the Frenchman added. "He always wants to play!"
Manchester City fans who had been licking their lips at the thought of taking on a CR7-less Real side in the Champions League next week will have had their hopes dashed. But given Ronaldo's patchiness at times this season, maybe it'll actually help City's cause to have an under-par Ronaldo up against them, rather than an understudy playing for his career?

2 - Marco Fu back in last eight at snooker's World Championship

It had been a full ten years since Marco Fu last made it past the second round at The Crucible, but all that changed on Friday night as Hong Kong's biggest sports star battered up-and-coming starlet Anthony McGill in the final session of their match. Fu lost the opening frame of the evening to see his lead trimmed to , but then won four of the next five frames to clinch a 13-9 victory.

And it doesn't look like he'll stop there. Having shot the lights out in his opener against Peter Ebdon - winning 10-2 - he was forced to dig deep and show all his matchplay skill against McGill, consistently coming out on top of scrappy frames against a player who made the quarter-finals on his debut last year. Next up for Fu is either Barry Hawkins or Ronnie O'Sullivan; either way, it looks likely to be a gripping quarter-final, a full decade on from Fu's epic run into the semi-finals in 2006.

3 - Tiger Woods close to return?

Golf's 14-times Major champion Tiger Woods hasn't won one of golf's big four tournaments since the 2008 US Open, hasn't won a tournament of any kind in almost three years, and languishes several hundred spots off the top of the golf rankings. Yet the entire sport has gone mad over reports that he was seen hitting a few balls in a clinic for a group of young golfers.
May 5, and the Wells Fargo Championship, has been mentioned as the possible return date; but his old buddy - and college friend - Notah Begay III claimed that such reports were a bit optimistic.
Begay then threw caution to the wind, saying that he "is on the back end of this rehabilitation process" and that "he hit a couple of lasers out there... definitely power is not a question at this point."
As good and as dramatic as the final round of The Masters was, the game just doesn't feel quite the same without Woods in the mix. At his best a snarling, irascible and utterly unstoppable winning machine, the game desperately needs to see him back at his best and duelling with the likes of Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.

SHARING IS CARING - TODAY'S VIRAL GEMS

A truly horrific moment in an Australian rugby match has had people around the world going, "Graachch!" and wondering how nobody was seriously hurt:
Amazingly, Emery apologised and Le Roux brushed it all away like it was nothing:
On a lighter note, there's a new rule of thumb for Facebook content: F1 drivers taking on kids is good, F1 drivers losing to kids is better, as Felipe Massa's little lad showed in a go-kart race against Daniel Ricciardo:
