Sarka Zahrobska of the Czech Republic won gold in the Alpine Skiing World Championship women's slalom. Marlies Schild of Austria took silver and Anja Paerson of Sweden won her fourth medal of the competition, this time a bronze.
Leading after the first run, Zahrobska went down in 51.14, fourth-fastest of everyone on the second descent and slower than Schild and Croatia's Ana Jelusic, who finished fourth.
Schild, who managed 51.02, was 0.11 seconds behind Zahrobska overall, with Paerson 0.16 off the pace.
Paerson had previously triumphed in the downhill, super-G and super-combined, leaving many predicting another gold in this discipline - although she has not been able to match Schild in the slalom during the World Cup season.
Her 51.18 was not enough for second-place, to the disppointment of her fans; however to win four medals at the championships was clearly a feat that meant a lot to her by the end.
Schild's compatriot Kathrin Zettel ended in fifth, swapping places with Jelusic - Croatia's number one skier in the absence of janica Kostelic this year - from the first part of the final.
