Mikaela Shiffrin will go for a record 83rd World Cup win at 12:15 GMT on Tuesday – live on eurosport.co.uk, the Eurosport app and discovery+ – after topping the standings in the opening run of the giant slalom in Kronplatz. Shiffrin boasts 82 wins and it is surely only a matter of time before she not only surpasses Lindsey Vonn, but also beats Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record of 86 victories.

Shiffrin 'continues to blow the minds' as she tops standings in Kronplatz first run

Mikaela Shiffrin has the women’s World Cup wins record in her sights after topping the leaderboard in the first run of the giant slalom in Kronplatz, Italy.
Shiffrin headed into the event tied with Lindsey Vonn on 82 wins.
The American, fourth out of the gate, was fastest in the first and fourth sectors recording a time of 58.72 seconds and holds a 0.13s lead over Lara Gut-Behrami ahead of the second run, which is LIVE on eurosport.co.uk, the Eurosport app and discovery+ from 12:15 GMT.
Federica Brignone took the early lead with a lightning run, one that looked like it could hold off the entire field, but Shiffrin and then Gut-Behrami pushed the Italian into third.
If Shiffrin holds onto the lead in the second run, she will claim her ninth win of the 2022-23 season and surpass her haul of victories from the previous two seasons combined.
Shiffrin is also chasing Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark, who won a record 86 times in the World Cup between 1975 and 1989.
