Dominik Paris claimed victory in the penultimate men's World Cup downhill to take the decider against rival Beat Feuz to the final week of the contest on Saturday.
Switzerland's Feuz could have taken the 2018-19 title in the discipline at Kvitfjell.
The Swiss led by 0.30 seconds at the intermediate time, but Paris sped to glory in the final section, ultimately winning by 0.25.
Feuz went into Saturday's event with a 100-point advantage over Paris, and ends the day with a narrower lead of 80 points, though both remain in contention for the title, which will now be decided at the final race in Soldeu, Andorra on March 13.
Paris sits in fourth place in the overall World Cup standings with 650 points, with Feuz just behind on 593.
Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen is in third place on the leaderboard with 808 points and a solid distance between himself and fourth place.
