Slovenia's Ilka Stuhec cemented her status as a leading candidate for next year's Olympic Winter Games as she wrapped up the overall downhill World Cup title with victory at the World Cup Finals.

With the sun shining down on the Aspen course, Stuhec finished in a time of one minute 36.95 seconds.
That was 0.66 seconds back from skiing powerhouse Lindsey Vonn who left it all on the course trying to catch her rival, even briefly sliding under the safety barriers at the finish after crossing the line so fast.

Italy's Sofia Goggia rounded off the podium in third, with Tina Weirather fourth.
But the day belonged to 26-year-old Stuhec – World Champion in the downhill earlier this year – as she secured the World Cup Crystal Globe ahead of Goggia.
It also kept alive her slim hopes of the overall title, now trailing American Mikaela Shiffrin by 278 points with three races remaining.
