Lindsey Vonn continued her dominance in the women's downhill with a comprehensive win in what were testing conditions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
The 31-year-old had to deal with difficult visibility but stormed to her fifth World Cup downhill win of the season, finishing in a time of 1:40.80minutes – a winning margin of 1.51seconds.
Switzerland's Fabienne Suter was second and Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg was third but Vonn's victory extends her lead in the oveall World Cup standings to 127 points over Lara Gut of Switzerland and to 181 points over Canadian Larisa Yurkiw in the downhill standings.
American Vonn now has 38 downhill wins, the most by any woman in a specific discipline, and a 76th World Cup win ensures she continues to close the gap on Swede Ingemar Stenmark's record of 86 victories.
"You can never be unsatisfied with a one-and-a-half second lead, it was a great day, I am pretty psyched," the American said.
"I skied this course a few times now and I think I had an advantage in that regard.
"I knew exactly where I had to push the line and where I had to give extra direction to make sure I was safe in some sections and to take speed to the finish line. There were a lot of tactics involved."
