Alpine skiing World Cup leader Benjamin Raich has decided not to compete in Saturday's men's downhill in Wengen, saving his strength for Sunday's slalom instead, the Austrian team said on Friday.
Raich, who leads the overall standings on 706 points from Austrian team mate Michael Walchhofer's 520, won Friday's super-combined race, which featured a downhill and slalom.
"I did not feel too bad in today's downhill," said Raich, who finished 13th in that leg.
"But if we don't feel I can finish in the top 10 or top 15, I won't take part. I will take a day off and keep power for Sunday's slalom."
