NFL star Damar Hamlin remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest, his team have said.
Hamlin collapsed during the Buffalo Bills’ match with the Cincinnati Bengals after an innocuous collision with receiver Tee Higgins during the first quarter.
He was treated on the pitch for over 15 minutes before being rushed to hospital. The match was later postponed.
The Buffalo Bills tweeted: "Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
"We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far."
Earlier the Hamlin family expressed their "sincere gratitude for the love and support" shown to him during "this challenging time" and thanked the first responders and hospital staff in Cincinnati.
They said: "We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words and donations from fans around the country."
The awful incident occurred when Hamlin attempted to tackle Higgins. Although he returned to his feet after the impact, Hamlin then collapsed on his back.
Emergency medical staff gave him CPR and oxygen on the field, with a number of players visibly distressed. Hamlin was later driven off the pitch in an ambulance.
