British Athletics have received a boost on the path to Tokyo 2020 after announcing a three-year sponsorship deal with convenience store SPAR.
The agreement will see SPAR become the title sponsor of the British Indoor Athletics Championships until 2020, with the next edition heading to Birmingham in a month’s time.
They will also pay a key part in the running of the Anniversary Games as Events Partner, following up their history of working alongside Britain’s promising sprinters in the past.
Olympic and world medallists Martyn Rooney, Desiree Henry and Emily Diamond have all been previous beneficiaries of SPAR’s links with athletics, with British Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos expecting more to come in the future.
"We are delighted to welcome back SPAR to the athletics family for the next three years and we look forward to working with them as we aim to build on the success of 2017 both on and off the track," he said.
"As demonstrated throughout 2017, there is huge support and enthusiasm from the British public for athletics and partnerships like this one reflect that and the strong position the sport finds itself in as we build towards Tokyo 2020."
