James Ellington admits he does not know how he or team-mate Nigel Levine survived a motorbike accident in Spain on Tuesday.
Both sprinters – who have competed for Team GB at Olympic level – are currently in hospital after the motorbike they were riding was struck head on by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road on Tuesday evening.
Two-time Olympian Ellington has a suspected broken leg in two places and both men have a suspected broken pelvis.
On Wednesday, they were visited by team-mates who had also been taking part in the British Athletics warm-weather training camp in Tenerife.
And writing on Instagram, 31-year-old Ellington said he was grateful for the level of support shown by the public.
He wrote: "Overwhelmed and truly touched by everyone's messages and support, I truly am blessed as I do not know how me or my training partner Nigel are still alive.
"Me and him are both strong characters and will be looking to bounce back from this horrific accident."
