Usain Bolt believes that Great Britain sprinter Zharnel Hughes can win 100 metre gold at the Paris Olympics next year. The legendary Jamaican said "if he executes right" Hughes can claim a rare triumph in the event for Team GB. Only four British athletes have won the blue riband event with Linford Christie the last to do so, aged 32 at Barcelona 1992.

Zharnel Hughes of Team Great Britain celebrates after setting a new national record after his run in Men's 200 Metres during the London Athletics Meet, part of the 2023 Diamond League series at London Stadium on July 23, 2023 in London, England.

Usain Bolt has sensationally predicted Team GB's Zharnel Hughes will win 100m gold at the Paris Olympics.
Hughes, who is guided by Bolt's coach Glen Mills, lowered long-standing British 100m and 200m records in the space of a month to fuel hopes for the Games.
The 28-year-old is yet to win an individual medal at a global Championships but has received the greatest possible endorsement ahead of next summer, with the fastest man on the planet backing him to win Olympic gold.
"I think in the 100m, he does (win gold)," the eight-time Olympic champion told the BBC.
"If he executes right and does what he's supposed to do and continue on the track that he's on right now, he's in good running form right now.
"It's just about maintaining that and he should be fine. I think he'll be in the top three if he executes right."
Hughes false-started in the final of the Tokyo Olympics and missed out on the final at last year's World Championships.
Among other leading contenders for the 100m title, which will be decided on 4 August 2024, are reigning world champion Fred Kerley of the USA and Italy's Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs.
