CJ Ujah has been selected for Team GB & NI for the first time since completing his layoff following a positive drugs test at the Tokyo Olympics. The British sprinter served a 22-month ban after testing positive for two different prohibited substances, and is now set to resume his career as GB & NI look to qualify their relay teams for the Paris Olympics later this year.

UK Athletics have announced which athletes will be heading to the Bahamas for the World Athletics Relays in May, with the intention of qualifying teams for the Olympics in Paris later this year.
While there are plenty of familiar faces in both the women’s and men’s squads, one name that stands out is CJ Ujah, who will represent Team GB for the first time since serving a 22-month drugs ban.
Ujah tested positive for two substances at the Tokyo Olympics, which resulted in the 4x100m team being stripped of their silver medal. The sprinter was later cleared of intentionally taking a banned substance, seeing the length of his suspension reduced as a result.
"In this case, after a thorough examination of the facts, we were satisfied that Mr Ujah did indeed ingest a contaminated supplement, but he was unable to demonstrate that he was entitled to any reduction in the applicable period of ineligibility based on his level of fault," said AIU head Brett Clothier at the time.
Head of Sprints, hurdles and relays Darren Campbell, himself a gold medallist from the 4x100m relay back in Sydney, alluded to the difficulties the sprint squad have faced, but was keen to point to the positives.
Campbell said: “The men’s 4x100m team were unlucky not to medal finishing fourth in Budapest but the team did incredibly well and have worked well over the winter. They have had their fair share of challenges in recent years, but I have had my own discussions with each and every member of the squad and know they are motivated, committed and focused on working together to reach Paris.”
The relay championships take place on May 4 and 5, with GB & NI fielding plenty of experienced campaigners in their squads - with the likes of the Nielsen sisters spearheading the women’s 4x400m, while Asha Philip and Bianca Williams will be bringing considerable knowledge to the women’s 4x100m unit, which won bronze in Tokyo.
Those squads in full are:
Women’s 4x100m
