Record-holders head race

World record-holders Samuel Wanjiru and Lorna Kiplagat lead the fields in the richest half-marathon race in history, the Zayed International Marathon in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Netherlands runner Kiplagat is the current half-marathon record-holder while Wanjiru clocked 58 minutes 33 seconds last year to take the men's mark.
Former world marathon record holder Paul Tergat also runs in the race that offers $300,000 for the winner, and an additional $200,000 for a world record.
The event is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and has a total prize money of $2 million.
The half marathon race will also be accompanied by a 7km and a 4km run.
