In their first world level final for 19 months, the English husband and wife pair fell to a 12-21, 12-21 loss at the hands of Indonesian eighth seeds Hafiz Faizal and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
Speaking after the match, two-time Commonwealth mixed doubles champion Chris Adcock acknowledged an uncharacteristically poor performance.
"Unfortunately, we saved one of our worst performances for a long time for the final, but I suppose that’s just how it goes sometimes," said Chris.
"We've had a really good week here in Thailand, played some great stuff, and always enjoy our time here.
"Thanks for all the support and hopefully we will be back next year."
Two-time European champion Gabby added: "[It] really wasn’t a good performance today but guess that’s how sport goes.
"On a positive note we’ve had some great wins in the past three weeks that we will keep building from."
Following a slow start, the top-seeded European champions never led against the world number 11 pair that had reached the 2018 All England Open quarter-finals in March.
The Team GB pair had beaten third seeds Ch-Lin Wang and Chia Hsin Lee from Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals with a 21-16, 19-21, 21-7 win.
English mixed doubles pair Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms were the last Europeans, in any discipline, to win at the Thailand Open back in 2004.
The Adcocks are back in action next week at the Super 500 in Singapore as the pair go in search of their first HSBC BWF World Tour victory.
