Maccabi Tel-Aviv are through to the final of the Euroleague following their win over Tau Ceramica. Maceo Baston scored 20 points and blocked a Final Four record six shots as Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Tau Ceramica 85-70 on Friday to advance to the European Championship final.
Maccabi, looking for their third consecutive title, jumped out to an early lead and never looked in danger, shooting a blistering 62 percent in the first quarter.
The Israeli squad took a 19 point lead into the locker room at the half and stretched the advantage to as many as 32 points on their way to victory.
They will play the winner of Friday's second semi-final between CSKA Moscow and Spain's Barcelona in the final on Sunday.
If Maccabi win, they would become just the third club to capture three European titles in a row, joining Jugoplastika Split (1989-1991) and ASK Riga (1958-1960). ASK Riga's achievement came before the current Final Four format was adopted in 1988.
With another title, coach Pini Gershon, would also match famed coach Alexander Gomelsky as the only coaches to win three consecutive championships. Gershon also coached Maccabi to the title in 2001.
