The Washington Wizards have extended the contract of head coach Eddie Jordan, keeping him with the team until the end of the 2009-10 season.
Jordan has a record of 196-214 in five seasons in Washington and is the NBA's third-longest-serving head coach behind Utah's Jerry Sloan and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich.
He has led the team to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons.
"Eddie has done an outstanding job and has been instrumental in making us a perennial playoff team," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said.
"We are pleased to reward that success by picking up the option on his contract."
The financial terms of the contract were not released.
