NBA history was made when Luka Doncic broke Russell Westbrook's record to post six consecutive triple-doubles in the Dallas Mavericks' big win at the Detroit Pistons. Westbrook had held the record since 2017, but Doncic's 39 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds earned him a spot in the history books. "That just shows what level he's playing on right now," Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said.

Luka Doncic became the first player in NBA history to record six consecutive 30-point triple-doubles in the Dallas Mavericks’ win against the Detroit Pistons.
The Mavericks won their second game in succession at the Pistons’ Little Caesars Arena, clinching a statement 142-124 victory to serve the hosts a fourth loss in five games.
Doncic’s contribution of 39 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds broke Russell Westbrook's record of five triple-doubles in a row which was set in 2017, while he also set a new personal-best streak of five straight 35-point triple-doubles.
Mavericks coach Jason Kidd heaped praise on the 25-year-old Slovenian after the match, as he said: "That just shows what level he's playing on right now.”
The visiting team extended their record to 36-28 and are in eighth place in the NBA’s Western Conference.
The Denver Nuggets beat the Utah Jazz with an equally destructive scoreline, winning 142-121 after gaining their highest-ever half-time lead of 78-44.
The Nuggets were fresh off the back of victory against Eastern Conference leaders the Boston Celtics, and at one point led the Jazz by 39 points.
The Jazz reduced the deficit to 14 points with a prolific third-quarter showing, but the damage was done in the first half as the Nuggets sealed an important win where Jamal Murray equalled his season-high points score of 37 while the two-time Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic contributed 26.
The victory means the Nuggets moved level with the Minnesota Timberwolves in second, with the Oklahoma City Thunder leading the Western Conference.
The Celtics, who have the best record in the NBA (49-19), bounced back from back-to-back defeats to overcome the Phoenix Suns in a 117-107 victory.
There were 29 points from Jayson Tatum and 27 from Jaylen Brown, as the pair cancelled out Kevin Durant’s season-high effort of 45 points for the hosts.
Elsewhere, the San Antonio Spurs were on the right side of a 126-113 win against the Golden State Warriors who were without star player Steph Curry.
