Paul and Martin Laciga of Switzerland upset Brazil in the knockout round of Olympic beach volleyball on Saturday, showing their land-locked nation doesn't need beaches to have good players on the sand.

In a match that pitted them against second seeded Brazilians Benjamin Insfran and Marcio Araujo, the Swiss brothers stayed calm and played steady defence to win 21-19 19-21 15-12.
Despite some blistering more than 90 km per hour serves by Marcio, the Lacigas managed to control the ball, drive home winning shots and capitalise on the fact that Benjamin and Marcio were making more errors than usual.
The Swiss duo will now face top-seeded Brazilians Ricardo Santos and Emanuel Rego in the quarter-final. Ricardo won the silver medal in Sydney with a different partner.
"I told myself after seeing the drawing of lots 'okay let's take it as a semi-final and a final match'. But unfortunately we still don't have a medal," said Martin. "If we can beat these two teams ... then we can beat also the others," he said.
In other matches, Americans Misty May and Kerri Walsh held onto their perfect record. After not losing a set in the first round they chalked up another win against China's Tian Jia and Wang Fei 21-11 21-18.
Both players denied that the matches have been easy. "I don't think we've cruised. We've worked really hard," said May, who led their strong defence and also scored 19 kills in the match while her towering team mate controlled the net.
They next face Canada's Guylaine Dumont and Annie Martin. Americans Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs also made it to Sunday's quarter-finals, after beating Sona Novakova and Eva Celbova of the Czech Republic 21-16 21-16.
They will play Germany's Stephanie Pohl and Okka Rau, who won one set easily but then struggled in front of a roaring partisan crowd before eventually beating Efthalia Koutroumanidou and Vasiliki Arvaniti of Greece 21-12 19-21 15-11.
Brazil's top women's teams face each other in the quarter-finals after defending silver medallists Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar beat Bulgaria's Tzvetelina and Petia Yanchulova in a tight match.
They will play twice Olympic medallist Sandra Pires and her new team mate Ana Paula Connelly.
