‘An astonishing run’ - Perrot takes victory in men’s 10km sprint at Soldier Hollow

Eric Perrot claimed his first career IBU World Cup victory by prevailing in the men's 10km sprint at Soldier Hollow, Utah.
The Frenchman shot clean and took the lead at the 8.4km mark, going on to cross the line ahead of fellow countryman Emilien Jacquelin and Norway's Johan-Olav Botn.
Perrot and Jacquelin were part of the French team who finished eighth in the previous day's mixed relay, which the winner said provided motivation.
"It was a tough day for the whole team and myself, so I wanted to get revenge," he said.
"I wanted to do my best and do good biathlon. I was really focused on my shooting because I knew it would be really tough conditions out there.
"I focused on it and it is not often that I shoot clean. I am really proud of that. In the last run, I saw the possibility to take it and gave everything. I am so proud."
Perrot's victory is the first by a Frenchman in this World Cup campaign, with Jacquelin also providing a season's best result.
Botn, meanwhile, shone on just his fourth World Cup start, upgrading his previous best finish of 24th by claiming a maiden medal.
